Solihull Energy Ltd is a new energy services company established and owned by Solihull Council to drive the town’s ambitions in reducing carbon emissions, cutting energy costs, and meeting the evolving energy needs of the local community. Our mission is to help residents thrive while supporting Solihull’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2041.
By working in partnership with Solihull Council, Vital Energi, and Ener-Vate, Solihull Energy is delivering and maintaining the Solihull Low Carbon Energy Network to reduce costs, enhance sustainability, and future-proof the town’s energy resources.
Solihull Energy Ltd is overseen by a Board of Directors, made up of senior council officers, and reports to a Shareholder Panel comprised of elected Councillors
The air source heat pump absorbs heat from the outside air using a refrigerant. Even in cold weather, the pump can extract heat efficiently.
The heat pump compresses the refrigerant to increase its temperature. This heat is then transferred to a water-based system.
The heated water is circulated through insulated pipes to
buildings connected to the network.
Plate heat exchangers in each building transfer the heat to the heating systems, providing hot water for radiators, taps, and showers.
The Solihull Town Centre Energy Network is a Council led project aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality, while providing customers with a clean and reliable new source of heat and power.
This scheme forms part of a wider strategic approach Solihull Council is developing to decarbonise the borough over the next 20 years.
Vital Energi have two generations of experience in delivering sustainable and viable energy generation, distribution and consumption management projects that support our energy transformation to net zero.
As a leading national player in the heat network and low carbon energy sector, Vital Energi will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining and operating the new network.
Since its inception, the project has been supported by expert technical advisers from Sustainable Energy Ltd. They will continue to play a crucial role as the primary client engineer throughout the construction phase.
Ener-Vate is proud to provide commercial support in the development and expansion of the district heating network, as independent, commercial advisory experts in all aspects of low-carbon heating developments.
If you own a development or existing building near the network, then you can still connect and benefit from reliable, affordable and low-carbon heat. We continue to expand the network into new areas so that even more buildings and residents can benefit.
